Moon Bin, a well-known K-pop artist and a member of the boy band Astro, has passed away at the young age of 25. His music label, Fantagio, revealed the tragic news on Thursday, leaving his fans and followers in deep sorrow and disbelief. In an Instagram post, Fantagio expressed their grief, stating that Moon Bin has “suddenly left us and became a star in the sky.” The singer was discovered dead in his residence located in southern Seoul, by his manager on Wednesday evening, around 8:10 pm, as confirmed by an official at Gangnam Police Station.
According to Gangnam police, Moon Bin is suspected to have committed suicide and there is no indication of any wrongdoing in this matter. Fans took to social media to offer their condolences and express their grief over the loss of the celebrity. The hashtag #moonbin was trending worldwide on Twitter with more than 2.6 million tweets featuring images and tributes, including posts in various languages such as English, Spanish, Indonesian, Tagalog, and Thai.
Fantagio expressed deep condolences for the grieving family of the deceased star, stating that their sorrow is beyond comparison. The music label also mentioned that all members of Astro, as well as colleagues, executives, and employees at Fantagio, are collectively mourning the loss with great sadness and shock. The statement added that it was heart-wrenching to inform the fans about the sudden news and that the late star had always prioritized and cared for the fans more than anyone else.
In addition to grieving with the family, individuals were urged to avoid spreading unfounded and harmful rumors. Moon Bin made his debut with Astro in 2016, and is part of a group that includes Jinjin, MJ, Cha Eun-woo, and Yoon San-ha. Recently, he also participated in a subgroup called Moon Bin & Sanha, which toured throughout Asia. Prior to his passing, the duo was scheduled to perform in Busan next month in support of the city’s campaign for the 2030 World Expo, as well as in Jakarta on May 13th.
Moon Bin started his career in the entertainment industry when he was a young actor, with his first appearance in the TV drama “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009, produced by the Korean Broadcasting System. The show was a huge hit and its dubbed version was broadcasted in many countries worldwide, particularly in Southeast Asia, where Moon Bin gained a lot of followers.In addition, Moon Bin’s sister, Moon Sua, is also a well-known K-pop artist who is currently part of the girl group Billlie.
